Laura Bailey is a singer, songwriter, and singing teacher. She received awards for Best Music Instruction and Best Local Musician or Band in the 2020 Guelph Mercury Reader’s Choice Awards. She is the writer, star, and producer of the original comedic musical Clitoria: A Sex-Positive Superhero! which debuted at the 2019 Toronto Fringe Festival and won the Patron’s Pick Award.
Laura was a member of Canadian a cappella sensation Countermeasure, with whom she toured Europe and recorded studio releases. She is featured on their 2016 album Made to Measure, which was nominated for two Toronto Independent Music Awards. She has performed at events such as the Toronto Fringe Festival 2013 (NNNN), WorldPride Toronto 2014, the London A Cappella Festival 2015, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 (*****).

In her collaborations, she has opened for luminaries such as Peaches, Nikki Yanofsky, and Holly Cole, and has performed with the Swingle Singers. She has appeared on CP24 Breakfast, CTV’s Canada AM, and as part of CBC’s Sounds of the Season. Her original songs and covers can be heard on her YouTube Channel as part of her songwriting project Stories2Songs, where real life stories are turned into songs.
She has studied voice with Micah Barnes, Tannis Sprott, and Benjamin Stein. She has completed the Royal Conservatory of Music‘s ARCT diploma in Voice Performance, for which she is set to graduate in 2022. Laura loves tea, chocolate, and books about outer space.
